As humans, we know what is considered “normal” when it comes to vital signs. But do you know what is normal for your pet? Below are the vitals for dogs and cats. You know your pets best, so if you ever notice anything out of the ordinary, do not hesitate to call us!

DOGS

  • Heart rate at rest
    • 30lbs or less: 100-140 bpm (beats per minute)
    • Over 30lbs: 80-120 bpm
    • Puppy: 120-160 bpm
  • Temperature
    • 100-102.5 degrees
  • Respiration
    • 15-30 breaths per minute
  • Capillary refill
    • 1-2 seconds

CATS

  • Heart rate at rest
    • 100-140 bpm
  • Temperature
    • 100.5-103 degrees
  • Respiration
    • 20-30 breaths per minute
  • Capillary refill
    • 1-2 seconds
